Mobile Phone Distraction Thefts
Police are carrying out enquiries in relation to an ongoing crime trend whereby foreign nationals are travelling throughout Scotland and carrying out distraction thefts of mobile phones.
Generally the suspects enter a business premises and while speaking in broken English, place a newspaper or map over a mobile phone before making off. So far there have been over 100 crimes identified since July 2019 across Scotland.
Police are asking local businesses to remind their staff to remain vigilant and not leave any personal property on display.
