Targeting housebreaking across the country
On 9 December 2013, Operation RAC was instigated in Aberdeenshire and Moray Division of Police Scotland. This operation was introduced in response to the increase in Housebreakings that were being reported. As at 20/01/14, 32 persons have been arrested in the Division in relation to the enquiries conducted as part of the Operation. There has also been a 3.4 % reduction in Housebreaking offences and a 2.4% increase in detections.
Chief Inspector Janice Innes from Police Scotland said:
"Whilst it is acknowledged that Aberdeenshire is a safe place to live and work, we would still encourage everyone to take personal responsibility for securing any of their property, with a view to preventing any type of dishonesty offences occurring."
