Banff Academy Global Rock Challenge 2010.

A group of Banff Academy pupils will be able to take centre-stage in new attire — thanks to the Banff & District Community Safety Group which delivered a major boost to Banff Rock Challenge by donating £400 to allow them to purchase t-shirts for wearing at a perfoming arts competition.

The pupils represented the school at the Be Your Best Foundation’s Rock Challenge event at the Aberdeen Exhibition Centre. The aim of the Foundation is to encourage young people to lead healthy lifestyles and to be their best without the need for tobacco, alcohol or drugs.

The Rock Challenge event is part of the Global Rock Challenge and is the Foundation’s main activity every year for promoting its aim, through the competition for secondary schools.

Almost 50 pupils are involved in the cast for this year’s performance, including dancers, stage crew and video and lighting directors. Group leader and Active Schools co-ordinator, Susan Mackintosh, thanked the group for their donation, She said:

"Their support is very much appreciated and the youngsters are thrilled with their t-shirts."
