Introduction

The Garioch and North Marr Community Safety Group provided financial support for a litter clearup on roadsides and river banks in and around Monymusk

More than 50 volunteers turned up on the morning of Saturday 12th March to collect litter pickup sticks, hi-vis jackets and rubbish sacks. Each pair was given a map of a half-mile stretch of the local roads to clean up.

Nearly 10 miles of road verge were cleared during the morning resulting in a huge pile of filled rubbish sacks.

When they returned, the volunteer litter clearers were rewarded with coffee and cakes in the Village Hall.

In awarding the grant of £500 the Garioch and North Marr Community Safety Group agreed that the project would provide a valuable diversionary activity for young girls in Westhill reducing the possibility of anti-social behaviour in the area.
