Garioch & North Marr CSG | CSG Home page IntroductionThe Garioch and North Marr Community Safety Group provided financial support for a litter clearup on roadsides in and around Monymusk. More than 50 volunteers turned up on the morning of Saturday 12th March to collect litter pickup sticks, hi-vis jackets and rubbish sacks. Each pair was given a map of a half-mile stretch of the local roads to clean up and health and safety guidance notes. Nearly 10 miles of road verge were cleared during the morning resulting in a huge pile of filled rubbish sacks. When they returned, the volunteer litter clearers were rewarded with coffee and cakes in the Village Hall. The final pile of filled sacks and other rubbish was even bigger - the two big containers at the back, provided by Aberdeenshire Council, are filled too! David Hawson, one of the organisers said: "The aim of the event was not only to clear the area of unsightly litter, but also to make a statement that we neither want not tolerate the casual littering from passing cars. Ron McKail, Chairman of the Garioch & North Marr Community Safety Group said: "Congratulations to the Monymusk residents for their hard work in clearing up the litter in their village area. They`ve done a fantastic job. Very proud of their community." Thanks are due to Susan & Alistair Reid and to Susie and David Hawson who organised the whole thing. The litter pickup was partly funded by the Garioch & North Marr Community Safety Group
and the Monymusk Thrift Shop Ladies.
