Children at the Scout Hall Playgroup, Westhill are now ‘fit and safe’ thanks to the Garioch and North Marr Community Safety Group.

For the past 28 years the Scout Hall Playgroup has been an integral part of the pre-school care and education in Westhill. The Playgroup with funding from the Garioch and North Marr Community Safety Group has purchased 20 reflective vests for the children to wear when out walking.

Judith Fraser, Playgroup Leader said:

"The children love to play outside, and the staff encourage structured outdoor play and education. Unfortunately we have no outdoor play area but make use of the local parks and surroundings. With the support of the Community Safety Group our ability to be outside safely is much greater. The children are highly visible to traffic and are easily identified."

Ron McKail, Chairman of the Garioch and North Marr CSG said:

"We were very pleased to be able to offer our support to this initiative which increases the personal safety of the children and staff when they are being taken on walks or going to the play park. The yellow reflective vests make them more visible to other road users and adds to the safety of these young children".
