Police Bike Training in Aberdeenshire |
The cycle training consists of a one day course for Police Officers. Officers volunteer to take part in the training and are issued with a helmet, sunglasses and cycle specific trousers; they use their own bikes. The course involves briefings on the use of the bicycles, an input on the mechanics of the bicycle and minor repairs, bicycle position and a warm up.
Officers then carry out an on-road and off-road ride of 10 miles within the Inverurie and Kemnay area. The course concludes with a town centre assessment.
Further training dates may take place during the summer but at this time 87 Officers have qualified to use the bicycles as part of their duties.
The Officers get a chance to try the Police Smith and Wesson bikes after their training day.
