Attempted theft of diesel near Fettercairn
Police are appealing for witnesses and asking residents in rural rears to be vigilant after
two males were observed attempting to access diesel tanks on a farm near Fettercairn. At around
5.30am on Monday 18 April 2022 two males driving a vehicle similar to a red VW Golf entered the
farmyard and made various attempts to access two diesel tanks.

North East Division Crime Reduction Officer PC Mike Urquhart said:
"Diesel tanks have the potential to store thousands of pounds worth of fuel, and are often located
in remote areas - this can make them an attractive target for thieves. With spiralling oil and gas costs
and changes to red diesel legislation we can expect to see an increase in this type of crime."
